Dog with fire hoseThe Association of Professional Animal Waste Specialists (aPaws), and pet waste removal services nationwide are seeking donations this year to help equip fire departments around the country with Pet Rescue/Recovery Masks.

The masks which are manufactured by Surgivet, Inc. are designed specifically to fit on animals. In house fires, pets as well as their owners are often overcome by smoke inhalation and these high-quality masks will help firefighters by providing rescue equipment for even the smallest pets.

“This is a great project, and one that will impact many fire departments around the country,” said Deb Levy, President of aPaws. “These types of masks are usually not vital enough to be purchased with tax dollars for the fire trucks, so aPaws decided to buy the masks and donate them. With these masks on board, pet resuscitation is easier and more likely to happen.”

"The aPaws organization chooses an animal charity every year to be the recipient of their fundraising efforts."

Each set of masks sells for $65 or two sets for $120 contains small, medium and large re-usable masks and tubing.

The aPaws organization chooses an animal charity every year to be the recipient of their fundraising efforts. Last year aPaws raised just under $8000 for the purchase of bulletproof vests for K-9 units.
